Environment:

I am running SSH Tectia Client version 6.0 on a Windows 2000 server.

Setup:

I created a batch script that calls SFTPG3.exe and an answer file to connect to a SFTP server to download files. My sftp session authentication is performed using ssh key pair.

The ssh user keys are stored in c:\winnt\profiles\\Application Data\SSH\userkeys The ssh hostuser keys are stored in c:\winnt\profiles\\Application Data\SSH\hostkeys

I also created a windows scheduled task that runs every 30 minutes to call the batch script. The windows scheduled task is set to run with my credentials which are Administrator on the Windows 2000 server and are the userid as stated above where the host and user keys are stored.

Problem I am experiencing:

Every so often my connection to the SFTP server fails eventhough the scheduled task gets kicked off. In the Application event log I see three events.

Event 1:

Event Type: Warning Event Source: SSH Tectia Broker GUI Event Category: None Event ID: 0 Date: 1/31/2011 Time: 3:40:11 PM User: N/A Computer: LIC-002 Description: 6212 Broker_new_hostkey, "xibab-punyl-dymal-supot-pytuk-gadut-gevih-fogel-puzat-lobub-sixax", Dst: securefiletransfer.group.net, Dst Port: 22, Local username: AQXXXXX, Remote username: AQXXXXX

Event 2:

Event Type: Warning Event Source: SSH Tectia Broker GUI Event Category: None Event ID: 0 Date: 1/31/2011 Time: 3:40:11 PM User: N/A Computer: LIC-002 Description: 1000 KEX_failure, Algorithm: diffie-hellman-group1-sha1, "Server's hostkey not accepted", Session-Id: 4

Event 3:

Event Type: Warning Event Source: SSH Tectia Broker GUI Event Category: None Event ID: 0 Date: 1/31/2011 Time: 3:40:11 PM User: N/A Computer: LIC-002 Description: 6209 Broker_connection_connect_failed, Dst: securefiletransfer.group.net, Dst Port: 22, Local username: AQXXXXX, Remote username: AQXXXXX, Uses gateway?: No, Session-Id: 4, "Key exchange failed, Key exchange failed., local disconnect"

What I need to do to fix the problem :

If I leave myself logged onto the server that has the scheduled task/batch script on it then the problem fixes itself. My scheduled task is again able to kick off and connect to the SFTP server.

What I noticed :

What I have noticed is that this problem only occurrs when the random_seed file in c:\WINNT\Profiles\aq82409\Application Data\SSH

gets updated. All connection attempts after this update fail if I am not logged onto the server where the scheduled task is.

Questions:

What is the random_seed file used for? When and how does the random_seed file get updated? How can I keep the scheduled task, batch script and process working without leaving myself logged onto the server?

Hi Nomi, can you try version 6.1 and see if the issue still occurs? I have checked our internal system and cannot find any other example of this issue.
