PLEASE NOTE: The Connector product is no longer officially supported. It has been replaced by the Tectia ConnectSecure product. But the regular expression format Egrep is still used in the current products also.

Regular expressions are used in defining Applications in SSH Tectia Connector Administrative interface. They can also be used in the DNS name and IP address fields of the filter data view.

Regular expressions use the Egrep syntax. Regular expressions are case-insensitive and work in the search mode. If you want to use regular expressions in the full match mode, start the expression with ^ and end it with $.

Use regular expressions

Select this check box to use regular expressions. Selecting this check box affects the DNS name and IP address fields. The value in the Application field is always a regular expression.

DNS name

The DNS name (for example: fw.company.com). If the 'Use regular expressions' check box is selected, regular expressions can be used here. For example, regular expression *\.company\.com will match with www.company.com and smtp.company.com but not with www.firm.com or www.company.fi. Either this DNS name or the IP address field must have a value.

IP address

The IP address (for example: 10.1.0.49). If this value is not defined, the engine will assign a pseudo IP address. If the 'Use regular expressions' check box is selected, regular expressions can be used here. For example, regular expression 10\.0\.0\.* will match with 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.3 but not with 192.168.1.2, 10.2.3.1 or 10.10.10.1. Either this or the DNS name field must have a value.

Application

The application, or a group of applications, given as a regular expression, for example .*IEXPLORE.*. The path of the tunneled application is compared to this in the regular expression search mode.
