im a beginner and have few doubts.

1.How do I cycle thru previously entered commands?in putty tool, using up/down arrow I can do it,but not in tectia 6.3.8.

2.TAB key gives me suggestion along with the last key entered.ex:i have a file abcd.txt.i do below.

cat ab<pressing tab="" key="" here="">

It takes input as ---> cat abcd.txt b

why "b" is appended here?it happens all the time when I use TAB key. 3.What are other useful shortcuts?

Thanks.

It's up to your shell, not Tectia. You are probably in VI mode, use EMACS instead. Or switch to bash once logged in, it has all those features (auto completion/history browse) built-in.

Alternatively you can add to your .profile set -o emacs alias A=$(print '\020' ) alias B=$(print '\016' ) alias C=$(print '\006' ) alias D=$(print '\002' )

One small note: try to not post questions with that kind of generic title.
