If you use command line version of sftp client and run ascii -s , you are presented with actual and hint values for local and remote servers.
How are the hint values defaulted?
I see they can be set by the command line using ascii remote_nl_conv local_nl_conv ( as described help ascii ).
However, if that has not been used , where does the default hint setting for remote come from?
sftp> ascii -s
Newline conventions :
remote : <not available="">
remote : 0xd 0xa
