How can I copy the text that I highlight with a left click when I let go of the mouse button ? I would like to mimic the behavior of xterm and PuTTY sessions so I don't need to remember to right click->copy or Ctrl+Ins to copy text.
This is a UI issue.
The Comment section doesn't let me adequately respond to you 'Roman', so I am posting here :
Yes, I've seen this option but I really do want the text to copy to the clipboard upon release of the left mouse button. It reduces the amount of "targeting" one must do with a mouse :
Your solution is :
(mouse, targeting) highlight , [switch input device] (keyboard) Ctrl+Ins, [switch input device] (mouse targeting) move to destination window, (mouse) right-click.
or something similar :
(mouse targeting) highlight , (mouse) right click, (mouse targeting) navigate menu to copy text, (mouse targeting) move to destination window, [switch input device] (keyboard) Shift+Ins.
The right-click to paste assumes that the destination window is another Tectia window, however this is often not the case.
The solution I propose reduces the amount of swapping between input devices which typically requires a release of your hands from the input device (2 hands are typically required for shift+ins or ctrl+ins) and reduces execution time noticeably :
(mouse targeting) highlight , (mouse targeting) move to destination window, (mouse) right-click.
or the slightly longer, but still faster :
(mouse targeting) highlight , (mouse targeting) move to destination window, [switch input device] (keyboard) Shift+Ins
So, who can implement this feature ?
I don't believe it's possible to configure it Tectia Client in this way. However you can reduce the copy&Paste operation to at least 2 clicks if you enable the paste on right mouse click option.
You can find it in the Tectia Client toolbar under:
Under the "Terminal Settings" section there is an option for "Paste on right mouse click"
Hope this helps
