We want to disable the version banner appearing on running telnet servername 22 It shows the tectia version number. Is there way we can disable it ? The banner-message attribute in server config disables the custom banner message appearing on the server

That's actually not the banner, but the server version string. It identifies the SSH server by protocol version and implementation and it is part of the SSH protocol specification.

Thus this is not only particular to Tectia, but is present on all SSH server implementations.

Unfortunately there is no way to disable this in Tectia. On some SSH servers it might be possible to obscure it, but it is generally not worth the trouble as it is needed for compatibility reasons with other SSH implementations.
