Hello EveryOne,

it is possible to help with following...I am using 5.3.3.56 on windows client?

I am seeing following in windows event viewer...

1001 Algorithm_negotiation_failure, Algorithm: Cipher (client to server), Client algorithms: , Server algorithms: blowfish-cbc

I have configured ...only enabled cypher - blowfish, in profile - default seting...but somehow it is not using that.

if I configure other cyphers also...then it uses other algorithms..but not the one I want (blow-fish)...or use default setting...for example then event viewer shows...

1001 Algorithm_negotiation_failure, Algorithm: Cipher (client to server), Client algorithms: crypticore128@ssh.com,aes128-cbc,aes192-cbc,aes256-cbc,3des-cbc, Server algorithms: blowfish-cbc

not sure ..what am I missing?

Regards, -Raj

Hi Raj,

Have you tried restarting the Connection Broker after you make these changes? This is done by right clicking on the Tectia icon and selecting exit or by logging out and back in. It should restart automatically when you start the client or when you log in.

If you already have an existing connection to that server using some other cipher it might try to reuse that rather than create a new connection. Newer versions of Client (6.1.x) handle this better.

If this does not help, the best approach would be to upgrade to the latest 6.1.x version. There is much better support for handling ciphers in 6.x (such as being able to specify them on the command line).

If this is not possible then try looking at the Tectia broker configuration file, found under:

%APPDATA%\SSH\ssh-broker-config.xml

and manually verify that the right cipher is written in the configuration file.

I did shutdown - restarted ...same thing...checked config file...it has <cipher name="blowfish-cbc"/> mentioned before other ciphers. anything else can we think of?
