I have just downloaded SSH version When I try to connect to the server I'm supposed to be able to connect to, instead of asking me my password, I get the error message:

"failed to open a secure file transfer session"

And then right after I clicked ok, i get this one:

"failed to open a secure terminal session: protocol error" .

SO I can't connect... I think It might have something to do with the fact that I just formated my computer and I installed back some files that i had in backups before. Since I had an older version of SSH before, maybe some files of it where installed somewhere and the paths get mixed up or something. But I really don't know what I'm talking about, I don't even know what a path is really.. (well kind of , but don't know how to check this or change it). Maybe it does'nt have anything to do with this at all either. Can you help me? Thank you very much!

I assume you are using Tectia client, and want to SSH onto a third party. Have you checked the authentication methods? It could be that you were using public key authentication, and if you have deleted this key during the format, you will need to generate a new one and supply it to the SSH Server's machine (they will have to do it for you).

What client were you using previously? is not a valid release, so I assume you are using 6.1.9?

Thanks, James

The 6.2.0 version of Tectia Client has not been released yet. This particular build of client ( is from a development branch from one year ago and would not recommend using it.

Licensed customers can download the latest released version of Tectia products from the customer download center.

And anyone can download the latest released version for evaluation purposes from tectia.com here.
